Support the Club

MIT Flying Club is free to join and runs on a small budget. Here is what support actually pays for.

What your support funds

Shared equipment

Headsets, a Sentry ADS-B receiver and ForeFlight seats that members borrow for free, so nobody has to buy $1,000 of gear to find out whether they like flying.

Getting people flying

A private pilot certificate runs $15,000 to $20,000 around Boston. Helping even a little with discovery flights and training costs is the single biggest barrier we could lower.

Events and outreach

Monthly Hangar Talks with working pilots, the simulator contest, fly-outs and transport to the airfield. Free and open to everyone, which costs money.

For companies and organisations

We would rather start a conversation than sell you a tier. If you are a flight school, an aviation employer, a local business or an alum who wants to help, tell us what you have in mind and we will work out something that suits both sides.

Support that is genuinely useful to us:

  • Equipment, new or surplus. Headsets, ADS-B receivers, charts, sim hardware.
  • Aircraft or instructor time, including discounted discovery flights for members.
  • Speakers for Hangar Talks, which is our best-attended event.
  • Scholarship or training funds for members working toward a certificate.
  • Cash, through MIT, see below.
